Impact Assessment Study see gains for EU Dairy in TTIP

European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development requested a comprehensive impact assessment on the risks and opportunities for the EU agri-food sector.

This was published and presented in Brussels last week.

The news was good for dairy with the experts expecting a possible trade impact benefit of €2.4 billion and an increase in exports of 240%.

Currently dairy sector represents 19% of EU agri exports to US.

The study does warn that non-tariff issues such as regulatory and administrative barriers could still be used to undermine possible gains.

News was not food for Ireland’s suckler industry and possibly dairy beef in the report, with it saying that it will come under significant pressure after the signing of a potential agreement.
