ICOS Skillnet are now Recruiting participants to attend our “Young Farmer” programmes, running in conjunction with Macra na Feirme

Dairy Directors

ICOS Skillnet in partnership with Macra na Feirme are holding a training course for young farmers who might see themselves as future directors of their local co-operative.

Participants will gain the necessary skills and knowledge for a leadership position in their co-operative.

They will complete a four-day course, beginning with an insight into policy and markets. The course will also look at the co-operative model and its governance, and finance. Strategy and leadership for directors will also be examined.

The course will include a visit to Teagasc Moorepark.

The four dates include an overnight in The Horse and Jockey Venue.

It will be held on 28 & 29 November and 6 & 7 December 2016.

Participants should be share-holders in a co-operative or the family should be shareholders. The course is open to participants aged 17-40 and the course fee is €155. The cost is part funded by ICOS Skillnet.

MART Directors

ICOS Skillnet in conjunction with Macra na Feirme are providing introductory mart director training for young farmers who may see themselves as future leaders in their local mart.

It will be held for a day in Portlaoise in November.

Young potential board members will get an insight to the leadership and strategic thinking needed by mart directors and will examine the mart director’s role and responsibilities including corporate governance and market influences for beef and sheep.

Participants should be share-holders in a co-operative or the family should be shareholders.

The course is open to participants aged 17-40 and the course fee is €75. The cost is part funded by ICOS Skillnet.
