Co-operative Development Executive

The Irish Co-operative Organisation Society Ltd (ICOS) is the central representative organisation for farmer controlled co-operative businesses in Ireland.  Our members play an important role in all aspects of the Irish Food Industry with combined sales of over 13 billion euro in 2014.

A highly motivated, articulate Co-operative Development Executive is now required to work in the southern half of the country.

The person appointed will assist ICOS in advising co-operative societies in matters such as:

–          the drafting and interpretation of the rules governing the running of societies

–          co-operative legislation and other legislation relevant to co-operative businesses

–          the structure, operations and performance of co-operative boards and their representative structures

–          member relations issues

–          the values and principles which characterise a co-operative businesses

–           the business and legal requirements for new co-operative start-ups

–          providing governance advice where requested to individual co-op directors

–          the conduct of annual and special general meetings of the society

This is a senior position within ICOS.  Salary and conditions will be commensurate with the position.

You should:

–          Be a graduate in a relevant discipline, preferably with a post graduate qualification

–          Have knowledge of corporate law and governance issues

–          Have very good communication skills

–          Have a good knowledge of farming

–          Have a good knowledge of agri-food policy

–          Have  familiarity with co-operative businesses
