European Milk Market Observatory Economic Board Meeting

ICOS attended the Economic Board Meeting of the European Milk Market Observatory Meeting on 28th March in Brussels.  The market is characterised by an unprecedented gap between fat and protein. The EMMO concluded that the global market appears uncertain with production picking up in New Zealand and the USA continues to increase its output, against a rather modest demand expansion. The Meeting also received a presentation by the European Commission on the role of futures to help the dairy sector cope with volatility.
