This week, Minister Richard Bruton and Minister Michael Creed launched new funding for energy efficient dairy farm equipment, with up to €500,000 available for high efficiency vacuum and milk pumps. This is the third iteration of the grant scheme run by the SEAI with over €1 million provided over this period.

ICOS welcomes the announcement by the Government and the continuation of funding by the SEAI. 

This equipment can generate savings for the average farmer of up to €1,440 in energy bills, reduce noise, lower maintenance costs and improve vacuum. Additionally, more efficient dairy equipment will deliver 1.6 tonnes in reduced carbon emissions annually. On the face of things, this is a relatively small contribution to reducing GHG emissions from dairy farming. However, it is a very significant measure as the solution to climate change and agriculture will require several similar type measures that will be greater than the sum of its parts.

The grant application guide should be read carefully prior to applying and applications must be returned to smegrants@seai.ie

This funding is limited and awarded on a first come, first served basis. As such early application is advised.   Items must not be purchased or installed before the applicant receives a grant offer (Letter of Offer).
