ICOS attends North America – EU Agricultural Policy Conference

ICOS attended the North America-European Union Agricultural Policy Conference on 18-20 September in Copenhagen, Denmark, which was attended by 160 agri-food leaders from across Canada, the United States, Mexico and the European Union.

The conference had a focus on international trade and agricultural strategies, including a discussion on trade tensions between the EU and US and challenges with supply management in Canada. Commissioner for Agriculture and Commissioner designate for Trade, Phil Hogan, attended the conference to outline the Commission’s approach to relations with the continent and to promote free and fair trade between the regions.

Additionally, the conference looked at adapting to consumer trends, in particularly the new focus on sustainable agriculture, and the assistance of new innovations, including digital technologies and new breeding techniques.
