The Government has launched a new public consultation on Ireland’s Nitrates Action Programme.  

The closing date for submissions is the 15^th of January 2020. Ireland’s current action programme runs until the end of 2021. This will lead to a new NAP (Ireland’s 5^th) covering the period 2022 to 2025, if approved by the European Commission.

The consultation is an initial consultative process with a second consultation expected in 2021. The Government, with the Department of Housing & Local Government in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture are seeking stakeholder views on the current requirements of the NAP and potential additional requirements with grazing intensity/zero grazing, exports of livestock manure and larger herds referenced.
