New Public Consultation on the Nitrates Derogation
The Government has launched a new public consultation on Ireland’s Nitrates Action Programme.
The closing date for submissions is the 15th of January 2020. Ireland’s current action programme runs until the end of 2021. This will lead to a new NAP (Ireland’s 5th) covering the period 2022 to 2025, if approved by the European Commission.
The consultation is an initial consultative process with a second consultation expected in 2021. The Government, with the Department of Housing & Local Government in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture are seeking stakeholder views on the current requirements of the NAP and potential additional requirements with grazing intensity/zero grazing, exports of livestock manure and larger herds referenced.
