ICOS has responded to the 2^nd stage consultation process into Ireland’s draft Nitrates Action Programme.

The set of measures proposed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine and the Department of Housing & Local Government have provoked significant debate and discussion.

ICOS established a sub group of the ICOS Dairy Committee in order to review and respond to the draft proposals.

Seeking to strike a balance, ICOS has called for greater lead in times for many of the proposed measures and have sought to propose alternatives to the measures we disagreed with. Ultimately, it is important that policy formulated by Government has clear objectives and based on evidence.
