National Federation of Group Water Schemes conference set for September 7th
The National Federation of Group Water Schemes (NFGWS) will hold the Rural Water Services Conference on Thursday, 7th September in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, Co Roscommon. Minister for State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Kieran O’Donnell, will address this year’s conference.
The conference theme, ‘Embracing Change – Opportunities and Challenges for the GWS Sector’ will focus on the transformation that is happening within the sector. A range of experts will be speaking on key areas, including key developments in rural water sector policy and funding throughout the past 12 months, drinking water source protection, and the importance of participation in the GWS sector. ICOS Legal & Development Executive, Darragh Walsh, will take part in a panel discussion which will focus on encouraging greater participation in Group Water Schemes.
The conference will be held as part of series of events that are happening during Rural Water Week 2023, which runs from 4–8 September. It is once again being organised by the NFGWS in association with the Local Authority Services National Training Group (LASNTG).
